A Story Can Hide Another One
Narrative Specularity and Sociocritical Stakes in the Contemporary French-Speaking Comic Strip Production
S the title of my article clearly annonces, I will deal with comics. More precisely, I want to study one of the greatest successes of the Eightees Comics Production, La Quête de l’oiseau du temps
(Letendre and Loisel 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987) [1
], which is responsible, like other series such as Les Inoxydables
or Les 7 Vies de l’Épervier
for the return of a new classicism, that is to say the return of the Adventure with a capital A and the Hero with a capital H.
A fifth book has been publiced in 1998, L’ami Javin, which starts the story of the heroes’s youth.
